Society for Humanistic Judaism - Hanukkah: "A Humanistic Hanukkah
Candle-Lighting
As we light our Hanukkah candles, let us say:
Barukh haor baolam.
Barukh haor baadam.
Barukh haor baHanukka."
A Humanistic Hanukkah
Candle-Lighting
As we light our Hanukkah candles, let us say:
Barukh haor baolam.
Barukh haor baadam.
Barukh haor baHanukka.
Blessed is the light of the world.
Blessed is the light within humanity.
Blessed is the light of Hanukkah.
No! I am sorry but this is just plain wrong. Light a candle, sing happy birthday if you like. Yet you need not pretend that you are doing something Jewish, and for some reason simply "opt-out" of saying the Holy name of G-d.
Clearly this is not the message of Chanukah! Its along the lines of people who are Jewish yet do not even believe in the importance of Israel.
